Isoptera Insecta

This is my piece for the Ingrained exhibition on tonight. I did a termite. An anti-wood creature for a wood themed exhibition. How fitting. I found old pieces of wood in my backyard which had the nicest colour and texture I just had to draw on it. The original idea was to have the termite split in half and guts dripping but I couldn't figure out how to connect the two pieces of wood without it looking tacky. I eventually scrapped the idea and settled on putting hinges so the piece could fold.

It's up for sale from tonight so come get it if you want it before someone else does! The exhibition runs for a week until the 28th so there's plenty of time to pop by the gallery.

Opening Night Thursday July 19, 6pm at Espionage Gallery, Suite 1, Level 2, 93 Rundle Mall, Adelaide, (entrance off Lindes Lane)
